2016 marked the 5th annual AppCentrica offsite, with our team doubling in size since last fall.
Our annual fall offsite is a point in the year where we can reflect on the work we’ve done. It also gives us a change of setting and a chance to enjoy each others company as we prepare for the work ahead. This year brought us to the Oakwood resort in Grand Bend, Ontario. After last year’s offsite in Montreal, we decided to go back to a quiet resort location (like we have in previous years) to review our successes and look forward at the year to come.
During our two days in Grand Bend, we discussed what the next 5-years held for AppCentrica, shared insight around completed projects, and got to see some exciting initiatives that AppCentricans had been working on. Many shared what they had learned over the year, and even though we still haven’t found Dennis, we can say that it was a success.
As always, we made time for some casual games (that quickly escalated into serious competition). After our last trip to Elora for our amazing race challenge, Ed was eager to defend his title, and many of us were looking for redemption. We decided to break into teams and take part in a scavenger hunt that would take us across Grand Bend. Ultimately, Hitha’s rap skills were the deciding factor, as her team – JB’s Sales Enforcers – claimed first place.
Another highlight from this year was parasailing over Lake Huron. Many conquered personal fears with 100% of our staff taking to the skies. Some even asked to be dunked into the water, despite the fact that it was October and the lake was only a few degrees.
With our 5th offsite behind us, we’re looking forward to another great year, and to adding many new faces to the team.
