Enabling telematics services to support next-gen technology in the Canadian market for one of the world’s largest automotive companies.

AppCentrica is the primary solution provider for a systems integration for Connected Vehicle Technologies program for one of the world’s largest automotive companies. AppCentrica’s solutions play a critical role in enabling telematics services for the vehicles sold in the Canadian market.

The objective of the Connected Vehicle Technology program is to integrate connected services to Canadian vehicles. AppCentrica worked closely with the organization to analyze and design integration capabilities, and enable core business processes such as product planning, vehicle manufacturing, factory line, dealer wholesale, and customer vehicle registration.

AppCentrica also designed and developed a Service Portal that provides a number of key features to dealerships and functional teams, including:

  • Connected Vehicles Technology Operations for vehicle telematics configuration and telematics product configuration;
  • Product Planning and Development – extraction of telematics vehicle configuration with detailed marketing information;
  • Customer and dealership support to view telematics service subscription along with warranty and other eligibilities;
  • Finance and Accounting team to review invoice detail as support data for settlements;

AppCentrica continues to collaborate with the Connected Vehicle Technology group in an effort to develop additional service features for the Canadian market.

AppCentrica helped overcome some critical challenges to the program, which required multi-staged integration patterns due to the specialized structures required to support live vehicle telemetry. 

Other design considerations included specific finance and accounting considerations to correctly evaluate the timing for booking general ledger entries into back-end financial systems.

In addition to the technical specifications, AppCentrica analysts assisted the business in establishing the functional requirements for the booking process including sales revenue, telematics deferred revenue, accrual cost, account payment, account receivable, foreign exchange, and sales tax.

These initiatives have been rolled-out across more than 20 models of vehicles.
